Ginger's Shelve It

I've been a big fan of Magan & Estelle's [Rather Be Reading] Shelve It feature for quite some time, so I thought I'd extend my own version here at GReads!  It's a post to feature the books I received recently, re-post links to what's happened on the blog, and share any other bookish news.  Thank you Magan & Estelle for allowing me to tag-along with this feature!

The Books:

I wanted to do a Shelve It this week so I could feature some of the books I've received recently because I am SO DANG EXCITED ABOUT THEM!  A few I've already read (literally started as soon as they were in my hands), and others are up very very soon to read!  I'm always humbled  by those who share their books with me, and thankful for the publishers who consider me and my blog to read their titles for review.  Yay books!

The Bookish News:

I participated in Camp NaNoWriMo during the month of July, setting a goal to write 30k words towards my new novel.  And guess what?! I did it!  I knew if I were vocal about it (meaning posting my participation & progress online), then I would have to hold myself accountable for it.  I had an amazing cheering squad of writer friends who continuously encouraged me to keep writing.  I'm proud of myself for the words I wrote and hope to continue on with this story.  Who knows what will come of it, if anything, but writing is something I've come to enjoy and hope to do more of.

As summer comes to a close, so does our Sweet Summertime Reads feature.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Estelle, Magan, & Tara all summer long with this feature.  I hope you've enjoyed the weekly posts from us!  A new semester of classes begins for me in just another week, which is both exciting and scary!  I can see the finish line.. 2 more semesters of classes + a full semester of student teaching & I will have my very own classroom :)  Hard to believe it's happening so fast.

Happy reading friends! xoxo

SPRING CLEANING - WIN A BOX OF BOOKS! [ends 5/10/13 - open to US only]

The Bookish News:

I attended TXLA last week and had the best time hanging out with my fellow book lover friends!  I really enjoyed talking with different publishers and listening to their book recommendations.  I got to meet some fabulous authors and get my books signed as well -- including THE Jennifer Echols.  If you're a follower of my blog, then you understand how huge of a moment this was for me!  It was so nice to finally meet her since I've been a fan of her work for so long.  Another cool moment was seeing Trish Doller's second novel in book form. She's worked so hard on this story and as a friend it was great to finally see it out in the wild.  It was a great few days away! Enjoy the pics below.

On a personal note... my spring semester of classes are OVER! And I can relax for a few weeks before summer school begins.  My journey to becoming a teacher continues!!!  Also, stay tuned for a special feature announcement on the blog this week!

[Friday, March 15] From YA to Adult - Take the Leap!

The Bookish News:

2013 is a heavy year of conclusions in YA series.  I just recently read & reviewed Requiem by Lauren Oliver, the last in her Delirium series here.  I was pleased with its finality, but it still leaves a bittersweet feeling of an end to such an incredible story.  I just got Clockwork Princess this week, which is probably one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year, and I am so eager to keep reading -- yet scared to finish, too.  I adore this series (maybe more than Clare's previous, The Mortal Instruments? I'm not sure).  Regardless, it will be another bittersweet finale to encounter.  And then there's the conclusion to the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.  Oh man.  I don't even know how all of that will end.  I love that we're getting to experience all the endings this year, but sort of sad, too.  Perhaps this opens the door for new books to come?  And more series to fall in love with?

The Bookish News:

It seems like it's the season for cover reveals!  My friend and author Trish Doller debuted the cover for her next novel, Where the Stars Still Shine, at Making the Grade - check out the post HERE! The highly anticipated follow-up to Gayle Forman's Just One Day has a cover, too! Check out the exclusive cover reveal for Just One Year HERE!  Another highly anticipated release debuted its cover recently: Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins.  You can see that cover HERE, as well as cover changes for her previous novels.  Tell me what you think about all these cover reveals.  I personally like each of them for separate reasons, but I may be partial to Trish's ;)

The Bookish News:

Lots of books turn movies/TV shows have been popping up lately.  I saw Warm Bodies last weekend (without having read the book) and thought it was really cute!  Really great music through out, as well.  Also, two more book adaptations are hitting the big screen next week: Beautiful Creatures and Safe Haven - both of which I plan to see (but have not read, oops).  The Host will be hitting theaters on March 29th - there's one I read & really enjoyed!  And the biggest news to hit my radar recently?  Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy will be adapted into a TV series!
