The Last Thing You Said by Sara Biren
Published: April 4, 2017 by Amulet Books
About the book: Last summer, Lucy’s and Ben’s lives changed in an instant. One moment, they were shyly flirting on a lake raft, finally about to admit their feelings to each other after years of yearning. In the next, Trixie—Lucy’s best friend and Ben’s sister—was gone, her heart giving out during a routine swim. And just like that, the idyllic world they knew turned upside down, and the would-be couple drifted apart, swallowed up by their grief.

Now it’s a year later in their small lake town, and as the anniversary of Trixie’s death looms, Lucy and Ben’s undeniable connection pulls them back together. They can’t change what happened the day they lost Trixie, but the summer might finally bring them closer to healing—and to each other. [goodreads]

  1. the place i like to escape to when i read books is kind of an ethereal place. this happens when i read a book that's atmospherically beautiful that my mind just melts into a place where social media doesn't exist, there's trees everywhere, and it is just me and the world i've dived into.

  2. Anywhere that lets me escape and take a mental break from real life. I'm finding this especially true this week since I need to be writing my MOH speech for Saturday but escaping into the fictional has been preferred. I did this before my own wedding too - a temporary escape from "wedding brain." ;)

  4. I would have to say sitting on the porch on a lovely day would be where I would escape to read a book.

  5. Somewhere calm and a lot of natural light!

  6. I would like to escape to read in a nice cabin in some woods completely remote like in Washington. I think it'd be quiet and peaceful and it would make me happy to see beautiful green trees everywhere. Thank you!

  7. I love to escape into books in general. Weather it be a book set in Hogwarts (always a favorite), dystopian setting (how would I survive), a beach (who doesn't want to go there), or Ireland (always a favorite).
