My Life After Now

Lucy just had the worst week ever. Seriously, mega bad. And suddenly, it’s all too much—she wants out. Out of her house, out of her head, out of her life. She wants to be a whole new Lucy. So she does something the old Lucy would never dream of.

And now her life will never be the same. Now, how will she be able to have a boyfriend? What will she tell her friends? How will she face her family? Now, every moment is a precious gift. She never thought being positive could be so negative. But now, everything’s different…because now she’s living with HIV. [goodreads]

Wow. That book summary just grabbed me; especially with that last sentence. I am intrigued by this type of story because I have not read a lot of YA books dealing with a character who has HIV.  I am expecting this one to be very emotional and possibly eye opening.

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

  1. I hadn't heard of this before now so thanks for introducing us, Ginger! The premise sounds unique and like it'll be a very emotional read. I look forward to reading it.

  2. I haven't heard of this one before! Thank you so much for letting me know about it. My favrite contemps always feature a really tough issue and this is one that hasn't been done yet!

Great pick! I cannot wait to read it!

  3. Whoa. This one sounds like it is going to be super intense. I haven't read *anything* with this happening (HIV) so wow.

  4. This one certainly sounds like it will be an emotional roller coaster. I haven't read a lot of "issues" books, but this one definitely grabbed at me. Great pick! Here is my WoW!

  5. This book's already on TBR list. It sounds really good.

    My WOW:

  6. Wow this one sounds intense. I love books with issues and I haven't read anything with a character w/ HIV since I read It Happened to Nancy... which was pretty bad... I could definitely be in the market for something that covers the topic more realistically.

  7. Wow! This sounds really intense! I'll definitely have to add it to my TBR list! :)

  8. Nice pick! I haven't heard of this one. Pretty cover!
