Waiting On: Fingerprints of You

Fingerprints of You by Kristen-Paige Madonia
To be published: August 7, 2012 by Simon & Schuster
Fingerprints of You
Lemon grew up with Stella, a single mom who wasn’t exactly maternal. Stella always had a drink in her hand and a new boyfriend every few months, and when things got out of hand, she would whisk Lemon off to a new town for a fresh beginning. Now, just as they are moving yet again, Lemon discovers that she is pregnant from a reckless encounter—with a guy Stella had been flirting with.

On the verge of revisiting her mother’s mistakes, Lemon struggles to cope with the idea of herself as a young unmarried mother, as well as the fact that she’s never met her own father. Determined to have at least one big adventure before she has the baby, Lemon sets off on a cross-country road trip, intending not only to meet her father, but to figure out who she wants to be. {goodreads.com}

I adore road trip books because they're usually more about self discovery than the actual physical discovery being made.  And this book sounds like the MC has A LOT of self discovery to be making.  Also that cover totally caught my eye.  I love the artistic approach it took.

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

  2. I have to admit, I'd probably pick this book up for the cover alone. Of course, it also sounds like an interesting read so that helps.

  3. The blurb sounds good but the cover is a little odd to me. I wouldn't have imagined a book with such a cover to touch on a deep subject. I do agree that the MC will have a lot of self discovery that needs to be done, which would make this book so much fun to read. Great pick :)

  5. The cover of this book is stunning. Really old school Americana tattoos, love it! The name Lemon is so unusual and fascinating that I hope the character lives up to it.
    Looks like it should be a good read :)

  7. Can't wait to read this one when it comes out. I've had it on my to-read list on Goodreads for a while! My students will (unfortunately) be able to relate to Lemon's life, and hopefully her self-discovery can help them, too.
