About the book: Presented by James Patterson's new children's imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion...

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

About the author: Kerri Maniscalco grew up in a semi-haunted house outside New York City, where her fascination with gothic settings began. In her spare time she reads everything she can get her hands on, cooks all kinds of food with her family and friends, and drinks entirely too much tea while discussing life’s finer points with her cats. Stalking Jack the Ripper is her debut novel. It incorporates her love of forensic science and unsolved history.

  1. Strange choice, but the Night Circus always feels right when I read it toward the end of October. I almost always start a Stephen King book, but then put it down because I get too freaked out. Hocus Pocus is a staple in my house and I am hoping to add Stalking Jack the Ripper to that list.

  2. For movies, any of the black and white horror films are fun to watch around Halloween time. Thanks for the chance to win :)

  3. Hocus Pocus & Practical Magic are two movies I like watching around this time of year :)

  4. Hocus Pocus is a must during the month of Halloween- I mean October, ha. I also HAVE to watch Scary Godmother and Nightmare Before Christmas as well!

  5. Oh man! It's a tie between The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus! I watch them every year at least once before Halloween. I love them!

  6. Any variation of Frankenstein whether it's a Shelley's classic novel, Young Frankenstein or even Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

  7. I would have to say Hocus Pocus :)

  8. The Harry Potter books are awesome for Halloweenish vibes!
