My Top Ten Books People Have Been Telling Me To Read

The great thing about having so many diverse bookish friends is that I am always receiving wonderful reading recommendations.  The only problem, there's never enough time to read all the books!

Below are the books I've been told quite frequently to pick up and read.  Have you read any of them?  Any other books come to mind that you think I'd like?  Feel free to tell me in the comments! As always, be sure to check out The Broke and the Bookish for more details on this awesome weekly feature.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys [add to goodreads] | The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart [add to goodreads] | Why Can't I Be You by Allie Larkin [add to goodreads] | The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson [add to goodreads] | Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales [add to goodreads]

  7. Holy cow, I've only read one of these - Frankie Landau-Banks. which I liked when I first finished it, but I have mixed feelings about now.

I've heard such great things about Love and Other Foreign Words. I definitely want to read that soon.

  8. The only one I can vouch for is Pivot Point - I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I honestly was expecting a typical, bland YA paranormal. Instead, my expectations were totally blown away. :) Now I just have to get on board with her contemporaries!

  11. I see Something Real and I immediately want to push it at you haha. I love that book SO much. I know a lot of people were turned off by the whole reality show story line, but it works and you should have no trouble connecting to Chloe. Also, there's Patrick. There is that.
Pivot Point is amazing too (and book 2 has TWO swoony boys), and I think you'd really enjoy There Will Come a Time and The Impossible Knife of Memory for their more somber/quiet tones.

  12. Oh my goodness, it this the copy of Mostly Good Girls that I gave you?! LOL And I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't read Between Shades of Gray. I have it - ready to be read. Maybe someday . . .

  14. Absolutely agree you need to read Pivot Point and Something Real. The Impossible Knife of Memory wasn't my favorite because all the kids in this book have bad parents. I get tired of seeing that in YA. At least one parent of a kid can be decent.

  15. I have The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks on my TBR, as well as There Will Come a Time. I'm certainly looking forward to indulging in both of these novels soon! But for the ones I have read, I can highly recommend the last three - Something Real (This book was really, really good! Don't let the length throw you off.), Love and Other Foreign Words (This book is so funny + offbeat! The MC was great!) and The Chocolate Thief (It will make you want to go to Europe. And eat tons of chocolate.) I hope you get to read them soon!
