GReads! Interrupted: Summer Summer Summer Time!

Sometimes I want to share things with my followers that aren't necessarily a book review, so I thought I'd create a sporadic feature on my blog to do just that.  GReads! Interrupted is a personal reflection of me -- music I'm listening to, delicious treats I'm craving and/or baking, or even just a random thought that I feel is worthy of sharing.  I might throw in some new books I acquired recently, too.  This is meant to be a fun break from the usual reviews + a chance for my followers to get to know me a bit more.  Hope you enjoy!

I randomly came across the band KODALINE and could not stop listening to them. With further research I discovered they are a band from Dublin, Ireland (love that!) and have been compared to bands such as Coldplay, Keane, U2, and Oasis. Woah, just woah. All of my favorites right there. So of course I wanted to introduce them to your ears if you have not heard them yet. Below is their album In a Perfect World that was released last year. Have a listen and let me know what you think. As always, if you like what you hear, support the artist by purchasing their music.

It's no surprise that summer is my favorite season.  But before it gets unbearably hot here in Texas, I try to take advantage of being outside.  I spent an afternoon poolside reading and it was GLORIOUS.  Hoping to do much more of this before it gets to be too hot.  Because then I'll be in the pool more often than out of it, and nobody likes soggy wet books.

In case you are wondering, I was reading SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE by Morgan Matson.  The setting for my reading time could not have been more perfect.  Add this one to your TBR list if it's not there already!

With summertime comes pedicure time!  I basically live in flip flops from April til about October.  I throw in the occasional sandal, too.  Regardless of what I'm sporting on the feet, having my toes painted is always a must.  Right now I went with this fun summery color.  It looks more blue in this pic, but it actually turned out to be a more mint-ish green, which I love love LOVE.

What is your go-to nail color for summertime?  Do you treat yourself to pedicures?  I highly recommend them ;)

But before I can dive into summer, I had to complete another semester of classes.  It's hard to believe that I am THIS close to finishing my college career!  Beginning in the fall I will be student teaching and then graduating in December. AMAZING.  This past semester was definitely challenging, but so worth it.  I am eager to be in the classroom full time and learn from my mentors.

I took this picture, looking at downtown from my university.  Though I won't miss the commute, I will miss seeing my classmates every week and being downtown.  (PS, I'll always be a city girl!)

And here are a few books I received recently (bought, loaned to me, & shared with me from publishers) that I am very, very excited to read... poolside this summer ;)

  1. Since you’ve been gone has been trending a lot. HAHAH Lovely haul btw. Love letters to the dead sounds really good but I’m poor :(( Lovely post!

  2. I will now have that Will Smith song in my head all day so thanks for that! :-D

I honestly forgot all about Kodaline. All I Want is such a fabulous song. And you got some great books. Can't wait to read Landline!!! Also, jealous of the pool reading already. Stupid New England weather.

    1. So I just realized my favorite Kodaline song wasn't on this playlist, HAHA. I just added it though! The song is called "What It Is" -- those lyrics really hit me.

  3. I love this feature! Summer is my favorite season too, and I'm so happy it's finally here. Love that pic of the pool. Very excited to read Since You've Been Gone, Breakable, Landline, and On the Fence myself. :)
And congrats on almost graduating! Student teaching should be a blast.

    1. Thank you! I am definitely looking forward to this last chapter in my college career. SYBG was great! Planning to read Landline & On the Fence soon, but Breakable will probably come before that.

  4. So many good lists! I'm definitely going to check out the New Adult books you listed!

    1. Thanks! Let me know what you think if you read them :)

    1. Thanks, me too! Though I'm about to get them redone.. thinking a coral next? or maybe a light mint green?

  6. KODALINE <3 Also, please let me live in Texas with you. THE POOL. I WANT MY POOL TO BE OPEN.

Please read Landline soon so we can discuss!! Have you read There Will Come A Time yet? If not, let's read together??

I am so so proud of you! I've loved watching you along your journey and I'm so so excited for the future with your career! You are going to be an amazing teacher and you've worked so hard for it!!

    1. Thank you, Jamie <3 It's crazy b/c I started my journey back to school just before I began this blog & met you. You've definitely been there for all of it! haha and YES to There Will Come a Time. Let me know when you're in between books :)

PS, Friends Pool! Come over after work :) haha

  7. I haven't heard of Kodaline yet, I'll have to listen to them-thanks for the info!

  8. I hadn't heard of Kodaline before your post! But after giving a couple of songs a listen, I really like their sound. I think I'm going to listen to more of their stuff. Thanks for sharing that! And I'm totally jealous of that beautiful weather AND your access to the pool. I can't wait till summer fully hits, and I can do something similar (though mine won't involve a pool, unfortunately).

  9. AHHHH! You are going to be the most awesome teacher ever.

ALSO, I wish I lived in an apartment complex that nice WITH A POOL what even. Boo to boring rural upstate NY. Time for me to move.

    Kodaline sounds cool.

LANDLINE, I need to read that noise soon!

  10. Kodaline is one of my favorite bands!! For me, their music is the kind that really gets to your heart and you can feel it in your soul. Some of it makes me sad, some happy. Either way, they're amazing! That nail color is super cute! My go-to nail color for summer is white. I will literally paint my toenails white for the entire summer.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy Love Letters to the Dead! I really loved that one.

  11. Enjoy your final summer before your last semester of classes. You will probably never have so much time on your hands again. ~Sheri

  12. I am listening to Kodaline right now! I just popped it in bc I've been listening to the same mix 3x since I got in this morning. Thanks for the rec. :) Love the books you have on here. I hope you love There Comes a Time. A favorite this year for me.
