Stuff Your Stocking With... Wanderlust + a GIVEAWAY!

With Christmas just a few weeks away I am teaming up with Jen from Pop! Goes the Reader to bring you some fab holiday gift giving ideas for your favorite reader.  Visit our blogs every Thursday this month as we feature some stocking stuffer ideas paired with books that we feel should be on anyone's Christmas Wish List.  I love this time of year, and I especially love gift giving.  I hope our posts give you some ideas on what to give others, and maybe even add to your very own Christmas Wish List (feel free to link your loved ones to our posts, hehe).

This week's stocking stuffer ideas are for the travel bugs at heart.  I know if it weren't for my bank account and lack of extra time, I would be jumping on the next train, plane, or truck out of town!  I gathered up a few items that I felt would be great gifts for anyone who has a love for travel, or simply appreciates the sense of adventure.  I like the travel journals I found, especially the Travel Listography -- how fun is that?!

Wanderlust

The great thing about literature, if you aren't able to physically travel some place -- there's always a book to take you there!  I've rounded up a few of my favorite books set in different countries, or centered around traveling, that I felt would make a great companion with any of the stocking stuffer items listed above.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard | goodreads | amazon | B&N
Just One Day by Gayle Forman | goodreads | amazon | B&N
Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone | goodreads | amazon | B&N
From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer & Valerie Thomas | goodreads | amazon | B&N
Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill | goodreads | amazon | B&N

Both Jen and I will be selecting 2 books that we will be featuring all month long to give away to 1 winner, each.  This giveaway is open to our international friends, just make sure Book Depository ships to you!  We'll announce the winners after Christmas, at the close of our feature.  Best of luck!

  1. These are awesome gift ideas! With 2 little ones we don't travel much at all, but hopefully someday I will get to and can take advantage of this awesomeness! Until then.... I have books to take me places!

  2. Ugh. I always comment before reading the prompt... haha Most thoughtful gift.... I am a soap opera addict-- when they cancelled 2 of my soaps I was heartbroken. I had been watching since I was 12! Anyway, they had a farewell party with members of the cast in NYC... it was super expensive and hard to get tickets, but somehow Mr. Betty made it happen!! I know he probably hated every minute of it, but he said he would do it over and over again to see the smile I had on my face when I saw the tickets! I should be thankful they got cancelled-- that is part of how I fell in love with reading-- needed a new hobby!

  3. Oh my goodness, your post is too cute for words! I just love what you've put together here, Ginger :) The graphics are too cute and I adore your selection of book-inspired gifts. I think my favourite would have to be the Nordstrom glass ornaments of the plane and the suitcase, although I really like the idea of the Listography travel journal, too. Heck, I love everything you listed! ;)

As to the books you've included, there are so many I need to read. I recently purchased Wanderlove when I discovered it on sale, and I'm asking for Time Between Us for Christmas :) Both sound absolutely fabulous and right up my alley!

  4. I love your gift guide! I love the Toms journal and it seems like a perfect accessory for winter (or any other season, for that matter). If I can't travel, at least I can travel vicariously through books, right? I still haven't read Just One Day yet, but I've been meaning to. Hopefully I get to it sometime this holiday season.

  5. These are awesome gift ideas, and some that I even want for myself. For example, I'm dying to get that Listography Travel Journal. I don't have enough time or money to travel as much as I want either, but when I do, I would love to have that journal at hand.

The best Christmas gift I've ever given is one that I haven't given yet. I recently let my good friend borrow The Fault in Our Stars, and she fell head over heels for it. My gift to her? I bought the John Green hardcover box set for her! I'm so excited to give it to her, because I just know she's going to love it.

  10. I have read every book you recommended, and I completely agree with you that they are amazing for the travel lover! I want to go on a trip so bad now. What a fun post!

I remember when I was little, I got the ever-coveted Pooh's Delightful Days Treehouse. I HAD to have it, and they were sold out everywhere. Years later my mom told me she had to get mean with the company she ordered from because they messed up and were not going to get it to her in time. She ended up getting them to overnight it and it showed up on Christmas Eve. She said it was all worth it because of how excited I was, though. I will never forget that day!

  12. I got a piano for my birthday once. We don't really celebrate Christmas here. But I can remember the piano just really well. I was playing the piano for some time now and I used the keyboard, but I needed a better and bigger once with more keys. So my mother searched online for secondhand electrical pianos that you don't have to tune. And she got me one for my birthday. It was great!

  14. One of the best gifts I've EVER received at Christmas is my guitar. I haven't used it as much as I like (which will be remedied when I'm with husband, who plays often), but it's still one of those moments where I was super grateful that my parents were willing and able to support one of my "dreams"!

  15. One of the best and most memorable gifts I ever received was my iPad. It sounds totally superficial, but hear me out. Chris used the box our iMac came to place the iPad. HUGE box. Anywho, he shoved a bunch of blankets and old shoes, etc but also made sure the iPad was safely tucked it and then wrapped it up. I thought for so long he got me a small tv, which I don't need nor want (such a boy gift!). I was kind of disappointed because I didn't understand why he would spend so much money on a tv we don't need but tried to remember it's Christmas, be thankful and all of that.

Christmas came, I was surprised, he laughed, I laughed. The end. :)

  16. Gave a high school sweetheart a scrapbook with a corresponding mix tape. That was probably the most memorable (and labor intensive) gift I ever gave.

  17. My brother's going on a schooltrip to Germany and Poland and I've been wondering what to get him. The post has definitely given me some ideas for meaningful gifts which he can use when he travels!

  19. My bestfriend and I did a gift exchange last holiday. I got her some of the best mixtapes i've ever made. In return, she got me handmade framed quote from my favorite book, Paper Towns, and a scrapbook of my favorite bands!
