My Love for Ruthie Knox: About Last Night + Truly

You may remember me reviewing a book by Ruthie Knox earlier this year, called Ride With Me.  I loved it so much I gave away a copy in a summer ebook giveaway & have since been pushing all my friends to read it, too.  It's such a great story that's well developed and easy to get lost in.  Ruthie Knox has become a favorite Adult Romance author of mine, sealing the deal each time I read something new by her.

I thought I'd feature not one, but two books by her on my blog today to express my love for this writer even more.  I'm hoping to gain new fans for her, and perhaps attract an audience who is hesitant to read Adult Romances, but willing to give this author a try.  (Just disregard those covers -- I know they're very stereotypical, but I PROMISE the stories inside are so much deeper and more complex. Plus just buy the ebook & you won't be embarrassed while reading them in public, hehe.)

About Last Night by Ruthie Knox

What the story is about [from goodreads]: Cath Talarico knows a mistake when she makes it, and God knows she’s made her share. So many, in fact, that this Chicago girl knows London is her last, best shot at starting over. But bad habits are hard to break, and soon Cath finds herself back where she has vowed never to go . . . in the bed of a man who is all kinds of wrong: too rich, too classy, too uptight for a free-spirited troublemaker like her.

Nev Chamberlain feels trapped and miserable in his family’s banking empire. But beneath his pinstripes is an artist and bohemian struggling to break free and lose control. Mary Catherine—even her name turns him on—with her tattoos, her secrets, and her gamine, sex-starved body, unleashes all kinds of fantasies.

When blue blood mixes with bad blood, can a couple that is definitely wrong for each other ever be perfectly right? And with a little luck and a lot of love, can they make last night last a lifetime?

My Thoughts About the Book, Before I Read the First Page:

*looking at the cover* Oh my. That's a nice, umm body. Wonder what this story is about. Oh wait. I'm pretty sure I have an idea, hehe. *reads the synopsis from goodreads* A girl who's made some mistakes? I can identify with that. A story set in London? Oh yes, definitely want to read about that. In bed with a man who's all kinds of wrong? Well isn't that fun! Wait, what's this? We get to see both sides of the story (meaning, view points from both Cath & Nev)? Love that! A couple that is all wrong for each other adds some definite tension, which adds to my desire to want to read this even more. *goes to B&N and purchases the ebook ASAP*

My Thoughts After I Devoured This Book in One Day:

Oh Ruthie Knox, you are one devilishly amazing writer!  I love that this story begins with a bang, quite literally.  Once Cath stumbles into Nev's arms, drunk and completely with her guard down, she spends the night in his bed -- but has a hard time remembering what exactly happened the night before.  Good thing Nev is such a gentleman, because it took all of his willpower not to take advantage of this woman who was occupying his bed, and moving quickly into his heart.  The two begin what should be just a one night thing, but unfolds into a relationship neither saw coming.  Cath has a past and has vowed to never let another man in her heart.  Nev has a family he so desperately wants to get out from under.  Their steamy, oh so hot, relationship is set up for failure, but they might as well go down in flames since they're already this far in.

I loved the intense physical relationship that sparked between Cath and Nev immediately.  But then as their characterization progressed, I discovered their individual stories as well, which completely pulled me in.   The romance was HOT, probably the hottest I've read in an Adult Romance.  But Knox doesn't leave them just as objects, to devour the other.  She gives each character a purpose, and you begin to realize there's so much more depth than just what's beyond the sheets.  I highly recommend this novel for romance fans, as well as those wanting to dabble a bit in the genre, but unsure of where to begin.

What's this?! Ruthie Knox has a new Adult Romance coming out in 2014, that you can read RIGHT NOW??!  Yup. It's true.  I found this gem, thanks to Racquel at The Book Barbies. Every Monday during the months of September thru November, you can read new chapters from Ruthie Knox's upcoming novel TRULY.  It's become my Monday morning routine that I look forward to each week, discovering this new story from the amazing Ruthie Knox.

What the story is about [from wattpad]: May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. Just weeks after moving from Wisconsin to Manhattan, she receives the world's worst marriage proposal, stabs her boyfriend with a shrimp fork in a very public venue, and accidentally becomes notorious. And that’s before she gets mugged.

At her wit's end, May washes up at a Packers bar in Greenwich Village, where she meets a surly, unhelpful guy who hates her shoes and calls her ex a douche.

His name is Ben. He used to be a chef. Now he's a rooftop beekeeper with anger management issues. She wouldn't even like him, but he reminds her of home … and he knows where to find all the best food in the Village.

She makes him laugh. He buys her tacos and cowboy boots. The longer they’re stuck together, the better May and Ben get along … and the harder they fall. TRULY is a quirky, modern New York love story unlike any you've read before.

Why You Must Go Read This NOW:

It's only available on wattpad until November 4th!  So visit this website now & begin reading this fun, lovable, irresistible Adult Contemporary Romance today.  Trust me when I say you'll be itching for the next installment of chapters each Monday.   I've already fallen in love with both characters, May and Ben, and cannot wait to find out where Ruthie Knox will take them.

  1. Never have I been more thankful that I faithfully check in with GReads every day than when I read your review of Ride With Me and was introduced to Ruthie Knox's work for the first time. After devouring the novel in a matter of hours I fell head-over-heels in love with Knox's work and was quick to purchase About Last Night soon after. While I haven't had the opportunity to read the latter yet, my excitement and anticipation has only increased after reading your review and I have a feeling I'll be bumping it up my to-be-read list as I don't know how much longer I can stand to put it off!

I can't thank you enough for introducing me to an author whose work I might not have otherwise read (Those covers are truly awful and don't convey, at all, how wonderful the stories inside them are) but I hope this is a start: Thank you, Ginger! ;)

  2. Ever since I finished Ride with Me, I've wanted to read another one of Ruthie Knox's books, but I wasn't sure which one I wanted to read next. I was going to tweet you yesterday to get your recommendation, but with this post I'm going to go with About Last Night next. Thanks for introducing this author to me and pushing Ride with Me on me. I have been recommending it to all of my friends too!
