Camp NaNoWriMo 2013

I decided to join Camp NaNoWriMo this year to write my novel -- well, to put a good dent in it at least.  I started a new writing project at the beginning of the summer [that I shared a bit of in this blog post], so this will be a huge push to get my words flowing daily and really write this thing.

What is Camp NaNoWriMo you may be asking?
"Based on November’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), Camp NaNoWriMo provides the online support, tracking tools, and hard deadline to help you write the rough draft of your novel in a month… other than November!" [quote taken from the website]
My goal is to write 30,000 words beginning July 1st and ending on July 31st.  I feel that it's a very successful goal to meet, and even allows me room to go further.  I'm excited that camp is during the month of July because it's also a break from school for me, which means.. lots of writing time!

Are you a writer too and need motivation to get that novel of yours flowing?  Then join me (and thousands of others) at Camp NaNoWriMo!  Don't forget your bug spray -- and I'll bring the s'mores!

  2. Oh, NaNoWriMo. It's such a fun experience! Insane and a little stress-inducing at times. But fun! I hope you enjoy it, and I know you'll succeed in your 30,000 word goal! You will rock this! :)

  7. I didn't know this even existed. I'm a fan of NaNoWriMo. I've officially signed up and failed twice. Although it is great to have November, I always find the timing to be a bit troubling. When I was a student it fell into that icky time when I was preparing for finals and writing a lot of term papers. Now that i'm a teacher it is hectic getting the kids ready to take finals and write final term papers. Still, I always put off my writing for November and I'm not sure why. The catalyst should be a NaNoWriMo-esque event but the discipline and organization should continue throughout the year. If i'm ever going to finish a full novel, I've bot to keep up writing all the time, not just in November. I'm thinking it might be a bit too late for Camp NaNoWriMo this year but you have inspired me to put some words on a page!
