My Top Ten Books I Had to Buy, But Haven't Read Yet

This week's Top Ten Tuesday prompt wants to know which books did you just HAVE to buy, but are still sitting on your shelf unread.  Oops!  I do this quite often.  A friend will tell me about a book, or I'll read an insane review that leads to an impulse purchase.  Once the book arrives, it somehow gets pushed aside.... and there it sits.  I have even more on my nook (I am horrible about doing this with ebooks - especially when they're so cheap!).

Be sure to check out The Broke and the Bookish for more details on this awesome weekly feature.

1. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
2. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
3. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan
4. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
5. Heist Society by Ally Carter
6. What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
7. Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales
8. I'll Be There by Holly Goldberg Sloan
9. The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
10. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

  3. I'm hardly one to talk considering I have an entire shelf in my bookshelf dedicated to books that I've bought and haven't read yet, but I simply must encourage you read On The Jellicoe Road as soon as humanly possible. It is my absolute favourite book ever and it's become my life mission to tell others to read it :)

  4. I have recently started Will Grayson, Will Grayson and, although I didn't like the beginning at all, now I'm enjoying it. I hope you can get into this story soon. Evie from Bookish is hosting a read-a-long of this book. I leave the link below and you can check it out if you're interested. http://evie-bookish.blogspot.com.es/2013/03/march-read-long-sign-ups-will-grayson.html

  10. Ginger you MUST read Jellicoe Road!!! You must!!! I have several of these on my pile too, pretty much all of them except for Throne of Glass. We should have a read-a-long. =)

  11. Oh, you have unread Sarah Dessen??? I've never managed to save any of her books. They get read the I start that I buy them :). I just picked up a copy of Graceling, based on Lisa's love of the series, even though I've missed the read along. Super excited for that one! And after Magan gushed about Throne of Glass, I still haven't picked it up, but it's high up on my TBR for sure!

  12. Will Grayson, Will Grayson is good, but Jellicoe Road is a MUST READ. Like, immediately. It starts out really confusing - you will wonder why anyone would ever read this or recommend it. But then! it all becomes totally worth it.

  13. Jellicoe Road and Anna Dressed in Blood are both amazing reads. I definitely recommend them both! I still need to read Graceling too, and I haven't read Throne of Glass either, despite owning both those books.

  14. I know, I feel guilty about them still sitting there unread.

  15. OMG, I have read every book on your list, and you need to read them all ASAP (except maybe WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GOODBYE b/c it was simply okay).

Seriously, JELLICOE ROAD changed me. IT CHANGED ME!!!

    Why, Ginger?! WHY?!

  16. Jellicoe Road is really, really good. It takes a while to really get into it, but once you do - you love it. Melina's writing, as you know, is absolutely GORGEOUS.

Also, Graceling and Throne of Glass are phenomenal fantasy series starters. You should definitely check them out soon!

And and and we both have Will Grayson, Will Grayson on our list (as does Lena)! I'm thinking we need to read it.

  17. Graceling and The Evolution of Mara Dyer are both amazing! I hope you have time to read them soon. :)

  18. You need to read Jellicoe Road YESTERDAY. Trust me on this one--it's such a Ginger book, now that I think of it. Heist Society is perfect for when you want a lighter, fluffier read.

I have Mostly Good Girls, I'll Be There, and Anna Dressed In Blood on my TBR as well. I really will get to them eventually...I swear...

    Here's my list:

  19. AH, you just HAVE to read Evolution of Mara Dyer! It's SO GOOD. So many answered questions.... but then so many more questions left to be answered :)

  20. Lots of great books on your list. Hope you can get to them soon :)

  21. You haven't read Jellicoe Road? YOU HAVEN'T READ JELLICOE ROAD?! That's just crazy, but I'm sure you're aware (and have been MADE aware) of that. On the other hand you are lucky to have so much awesome ahead of you. :)

  22. I need to get The Evolution of MD too... like NOW! I want to see what happens to her! Anyway I wasn't a fan of Jellicoe Road (but I think I'm like the only one). Also Will Grayson and What Happened to Goodbye were my least favs by those authors :( But they were still good! I need to read the Ally Carter series... that's definitely on my list for this year :)

  23. GRACELING! I know you don't always love Fantasy but I really think you'll fall in love with Katsa being badass. Also, Throne of Glass has some badassery in it with lots of mystery and other goodness.

C'mon. You had to know I'd be pushing those fantasy books at you! :)

  24. Haha I just bought the entire Heist Society series up to date because the author came to Toronto for a book signing, and I was like, BUY ALL THE BOOKS! I read the first one a couple years ago, but I definitely need to reread it and the rest of them, which are sitting on my shelf, collecting dust :(

  25. GRACELING!! So good. That whole series, so good. Will Grayson was good...not amazing. But still good. :)

  26. I just can't handle this. There are too many good books in that pile to even decide which to comment on. But, basically, LOOK AT ALL THE FANTASY! I AM SO HAPPY!
