Since being named one of London’s “Lords to Land” by a popular ladies’ magazine, Nicholas St. John has been relentlessly pursued by every matrimony-minded female in the ton. So when an opportunity to escape fashionable society presents itself, he eagerly jumps—only to land in the path of the most determined, damnably delicious woman he’s ever met!

The daughter of a titled wastrel, Lady Isabel Townsend has too many secrets and too little money. Though used to taking care of herself quite handily, her father’s recent passing has left Isabel at sea and in need of outside help to protect her young brother’s birthright. The sinfully handsome, eminently eligible Lord Nicholas could be the very salvation she seeks.

But the lady must be wary and not do anything reckless…like falling madly, passionately in love. [goodreads]

After devouring the first book in this series, I was on a hunt to continue with the rest.  Ten Ways to Be Adored... definitely quenched my thirst and settled my hunger for such a delicious, mouth-watering tale of passionate romance set among the aristocratic countryside of 1800 England.

The "I shouldn't be with you because it's socially unacceptable and inappropriate" theme in her novels is so much fun to read about.  The element of forbidden love always creates a story that is so hard to resist!  Isabel is attempting to hold together what is left of her family's estate, while harboring secrets not just of her own, but those she looks after.  Nicholas is tired of the elite social scene in London and escapes to the British countryside for what is meant to be a job, but soon becomes a twist of fate as he literally crashes into Isabel.  These two characters were at such odds with one another that you knew immediately they'd be catching fire and not burning out anytime soon.

As the secrets pile higher and higher, their resistance to one another falters and it's just a matter of time before they give in to one another's passion & desires.  MacLean writes these scenes with such intensity and attention to detail that you literally find yourself gasping for air.  She takes us back to a time when innocence is something of high standard, but the reward for giving into these desires is every bit a fairy tale that you don't want to stop reading.

  2. Yeah, I totally need to read some Sarah MacLean. Everyone raves about her. I am super picky about what historical romances I read, though. Glad to hear you liked this :)
