Top Ten Tuesday: Oops! I meant to read, but didn't...

This week's Top Ten Tuesday prompt is a freebie, so I thought I'd make a list of my top ten books I meant to read this year, but for whatever reason haven't done so yet. Oopsie! Be sure to check out The Broke and the Bookish for more details on this awesome weekly feature.

This Week's Top 10: Books I Meant to Read This Year

1. Across the Universe by Beth Revis
2. How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr
3. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
4. I'll Be There by Holly Goldberg Sloan
5. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
6. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
7. The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
8. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
9. Paper Towns by John Green
10. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

There's still a few weeks left in 2012, so maybe I can knock a few of these off the list.  All books mentioned here are linked to their goodreads pages.

  1. Don't worry, I meant to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone this year too! A few weeks ago, I read Bloodlines and then proceeded to read The Golden Lily and it's a great series, I recommend it. Not as badassy as VA but still lots of fun and now I can't wait to get my hands on The Indigo Spell! I hope you get round to starting the series soon.

You must read Jellicoe Road soon, it's AMAZING. I've had favourites (what book lover doesn't?) and books I've loved, but I've never had an all-time favourite; a book I could read again and again and again; that turned my mind to mush just to think of it's brilliance - until Jellicoe Road. It's a little mind boggling and confusing but it's meant to be. And then in the end, it all starts falling in place and your mind just explodes from all the awesomeness. Can you tell I love it? ;D So many books, so little time, but if you want to end your bookish year on a bang, this is the way to go. ♥

  5. Hah! I had Across the Universe on my list last year of books to read before the end of 2011 and I managed to knock if off :) This year I have the sequel on my list!

  6. I still need to read ATU too! I just read my first Sara Zarr book (Sweethearts) and now I'm definitely going to get to How To Save A Life soon! Also: Jellicoe Road. Thank goodness you have also not read it so I don't feel so bad. Carla can split her disappointment between the two of us :P

And yes...please read Frankie Banks! And Paper Towns! And I'll Be There (super different from what I normally read in contemps).

  9. GINGER! You NEED to read The Scorpio Races and Jellicoe Road! They are both AHMAZING. I admit to not being the biggest fan of Across The Universe. I still need to pick up Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Paper Towns.

  21. Interesting list idea. I know, there are so many books that I want to get to, books that I have at my house from the library, but will probably end up returning before I've read them. If only there were more hours in a day :)

One of them actually includes Jellicoe Road! I don't know if I will get to it, though. I want to read Scorpio Races via audiobook, though. I might be able to get to that this year.

  22. Interesting list idea! There are so many books that I promised myself I would read in 2012 that I have yet to get to. As for your list, I've only read Across The Universe, Anna Dressed In Blood, and and Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I would recommend all of them. Each of them is so good in their own way! :)
