GReads Favs of 2010 - #3

The holiday season is upon us & that means 2010 will soon be coming to a close. I read a pile of fantastic books this past year that I would like to mention through out the month of December.

Please feel free to join in this event hosted by me to showcase your fav books from 2010. If you do, please post a link back in the comments section to let me know, thanks!

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

This book introduced me to the talented & oh so sweet author Simone Elkeles.  Her ability to write like you're inside a teenager's mind is what sucked me in.  I felt like I was watching a movie, instead of reading a book.  I'm a huge sucker for bad boy + good girl = epic romance.  I never get tired of that story, and Simone has perfected it.  She writes with such intensity.  You can literally feel the passion burning off the pages!  I loved these characters, Alex & Brittany.  I felt myself connected to them right from the beginning.  Even though the story is predictable, I still enjoyed following along as they met as enemies and grew to be soul mates.  Not everyone is the same, and relationships take a lot of work, especially when the odds are stacked against you.

After devouring this book, I then found Rules of Attraction, which is a spin-off of this story & then Simone's other series Leaving Paradise & Return to Paradise.  All of which I read in one sitting each.  They are seriously that good.  Sometimes I may read a really good book from a particular author & then be eager to read another by them.  But I am not always pleased with multiples of what they've written.  In this case, I am beyond pleased.  Simone has a 3rd book in the Perfect Chemistry series coming out in 2011, which I am sure will make my favs list for next year!
