Official Cover Reveal: The Reece Malcolm List

So remember last week when I gave y'all a glimpse inside Amy Spalding's upcoming YA cover for The Reece Malcolm List?  Well today is the day to show off it's official cover!!  I must say, it's very eye catching - sweet, but intriguing.  Take a look for yourself & tell me what you think:

Let's discuss, shall we?  I am a HUGE fan when YA covers do not put a face on the cover.  Even though our characters are described to us, I still like to imagine my peeps as my own peeps inside my head.  Sometimes when there is a blatant person staring back at me, it throws the whole thing off.  So major props for not showing this chick's face.  Second, I'm all about the type on my covers.  I really, really like it when a book's title is incorporated in the image somewhere.  It just adds that extra bit of creativity & sophistication.  And third, COURTNEY SUMMERS BLURBS IT! Oh heck yes. I love that woman & seeing her words on the cover have pushed my desire to want to read this book over the edge.

In case you missed my previous post, here's what the book is about:

Things I know about Reece Malcolm:

1. She graduated from New York University.
2. She lives in or near Los Angeles.
3. Since her first novel was released, she’s been on the New York Times bestseller list every week.
4. She likes strong coffee and bourbon.
5. She’s my mother.

Devan knows very little about Reece Malcolm, until the day her father dies and she’s shipped off to live with the mother she’s never met. All she has is a list of notebook entries that doesn’t add up to much.

L.A. offers a whole new world to Devan—a performing arts school allows her to pursue her passion for show choir and musicals, a new circle of friends helps to draw her out of her shell, and an intriguing boy opens up possibilities for her first love.

But then the Reece Malcolm list gets a surprising new entry. Now that Devan is so close to having it all, can she handle the possibility of losing everything? [add to goodreads]

More Amy Spalding goodness:

  1. That is a pretty great cover, and for all of the reasons that you mention. I like the cover image to reflect the story without being distracting (ie. full face that doesn't jive with how you picture the character). I like the way her journal/notebook looks like something an actual teen would doodle in. Just great. :)

  2. Cute cover! And blurbed by Courtney Summers? Yes please.

  3. Love the cover! And I want even more now that I know it's blurbed by Courtney Summers! I LOVED This is Not a Test! Thanks for sharing! :)

  4. I'm really liking this cover. It's simple and manages to walk the line between silly and serious :D

  5. I quite like this cover, which is strange because contemporary covers are very hit and miss for me. And the blurb makes me want to read this more!

  6. What a lovely cover! I actually really like it because.. well, it kind of reminds me of me. Haha.
