TGIF at GReads! {50}: Love Stories

Who's ready for the weekend?!  I know I am!  I'm introducing a new(ish) feature for Fridays to re-cap the week's posts & to propose a question for my followers.  Feel free to get involved by linking up at the bottom. If not, I'd love to read your responses in the comments. Thanks!

This Friday's Question:

Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lola & Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

I have always been intrigued by the "boy next door" concept in literature.  In this particular story I adored the relationship between Lola and Cricket so much.  He was geeky and shy, yet she was different and vulnerable.  The two of them were meant to be together, it just took two bedroom windows to make that happen.

Jessica & Marcus from The Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty

They were the most unlikely couple to end up together. Jessica being the cynical over-achiever, and Marcus being the drop-out druggy.  It's their differences that made them so perfect for one another.  I adore this series because it's real.  This story takes you on a journey of what it's really like to lose yourself with someone, and then find it again years down the road.

Mia & Adam from Where She Went by Gayle Forman

These two characters literally went through hell and back, testing their love.  This story teaches us what it means to let go of someone, attempt to live your life, and if it's truly meant to be - they will find a way back in to your heart.  Some times a beautifully broken boy needs a solid girl to lean on, even if she has scars of her own.

Belly & Conrad from The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

I love a story when two characters have known each other since they were kids, and as they grow up they begin to look at one another in a new light.  Though Belly was conflicted between the two brothers, I was always rooting for Team Conrad!  Here's another example of a beautifully broken boy in aid of some mending.

Clary & Jace from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

I'll admit it, even when there was a small chance these two could be related - I was still rooting for their love! Yes, I believe in it that much :)  Jace is the epitome of a dark, misguided supernatural creature who is taken back by Clary and her mundane beauty.  I love that a fiery red-headed heroine was able to capture such a mysterious boy's heart!

- After watching The Vampire Diaries last night I had to add this beautiful song that was playing during a Stefan-Elena-Damon moment.  Ohhhh that love triangle is tugging on my fragile heart!  I love it so, though.  And in case you were wondering - I'm a fan of the Stefan-Elena duo :)

  2. I had Mia and Adam too! :) I wanted to keep the list to 5 but ended up going to 6 books. But I haven't read Lola, but if it's such an amazing love story then I really need to move that one up on the pile.

Oooh and I'm so glad you put Jace and Clary, as I haven't read the last book I was afraid to put them as a couple if their love story went seriously wrong. But they are an adorable couple. Great picks and Happy Friday!

  20. ooh you've convinced me to finally give If I Stay a go! It's been on my TBR for awhile but now I really want to read it. I'm a sucker for "beautifully broken boys." Also, it's been so long since I've read the Jessica Darling series. i think a re-read in order, I just remember liking Marcus Flutie a lot. Like, I just felt naturally compelled to add a heart at the end of his name, haha. x

  21. The only one of these books I own is "City of Bones", which I still haven't read...I've heard of "Lola and the Boy Next Door" and "Where She Went", but haven't read them, either. I do have them on my TBR list, though.

Oh, and I'm another sucker for "beautifully broken boys", too!! (I wonder if there's a fan club for addicts like me...)

    Happy Valentine's Day!!

  23. Ahh Yes, Clary and Jace! They are my favorite couple ever and they had such a unique(and strange at times) love story. It's one of those that sometimes I wonder if they will ever end happily but I sure love the ride along the way, including the drama!!

  24. LOLA! I love that book so much because the love story wasn't just dropped into these characters' laps. They had to work for it! Which made it more intense.

  25. I think I have a problem...I haven't read any of these yet! I plan to remedy this soon though, so I can know of the epic loves that exist too ;]
Totally love the song, by the way :]
