This Tuesday's Tune: "Fire Escape" by Matthew Mayfield
I recently discovered Matthew Mayfield's music through my friend Jen. The two of us like to randomly send texts that say things like, "Matthew Mayfield. Listen to it. Now. Woah." We understand each others music tastes, so when she recommends me music.. I stop what I'm doing & listen to said song. THIS one in particular completely took me by surprise. I am IN LOVE with this dude. How can you not be with a voice like that?! It's so raspy & raw. Then when I looked up this video.. well.. as you can see, he's not sore on the eyes either ;-)
I spent a couple of nights finding every song he ever sang. This is what I do when I really like a musician. Some may call it obsessed, I just call it passion haha. I discovered a few covers he did as well & this one in particular really caught my attention. Being a Coldplay fan, I've seen numerous covers of Fix You. But there was something about Matthew's version that may very well be my most favorite. Let me know in the comments what you think!

ReplyDeleteOhh. Ohhhhh. OHHHHHHH! I like this. In fact I am sure I love it <3 I must agree with everything you said from him having a wonderfully raspy voice, to being easy and the eyes! Also, I do not think looking up every song by a particular artist you love is creepy or stalker-ish at all. It just shows the dedication of a true fan :) (also, I do that as well so if I were to be calling you obsessed, I'd be saying the same thing about myself!)
