Who's ready for the weekend?! I know I am! I'm introducing a new(ish) feature for Fridays to re-cap the week's posts & to propose a question for my followers. Feel free to get involved by linking up at the bottom. If not, I'd love to read your responses in the comments. Thanks!
This Friday's Question:
Most Popular: What blog post has gotten the most
comments/activity on your blog this year?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The blog post with the most hits this year would be my one year blogoversary post: GReads is 1 year old! + GIVEAWAY. I'm not surprised by this since any time I host a giveaway on the blog, it tends to get a lot of activity. People like free stuff! I know I do :-) I was very appreciative to receive all of the wonderful congratulatory comments about making it to my one year mark. It was a momentous occasion & I was very pleased to have reached it.
Here's a break down of some other popular posts:
- Most popular book reviews: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater, Lola & the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, & Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
- Most popular Tune in Tuesday: "Sing" by Travis & "To Be With You" by Mr Big
- Most popular The Blogger Behind the Book: Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner
- Most popular TGIF: To-Be-Read Piles & Blogger Confessions
- Most popular author interview: John Corey Whaley
- Most popular giveaway (other than blogoversary): Summer Giveaway! (The Summer I Turned Pretty & It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han + a summer mix tape)
- Most popular random post: The Best Love Stories Ever Told - a collection of fave love stories from other bloggers.

i love all of your posts EVER!
ReplyDeletebut i do enjoy your TGIF posts a whole lot. it provides a way to share more about the blogger without feeling forced. well done, you!
everybody's mos popular has been a giveaway :p not that it's a surprise haha but I have seen a lot of people's most famous review is Lola, that's quite weird!
ReplyDelete-thank you&come again.
Yup, I'm not surprised as well that your most popular post is the giveaway post. Giveaways just generate a ton of activity in general. :/
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I was around for your one year...hmm. I loved your night with SafetySuit post!!
ReplyDelete:) Not surprised at all that those reviews were the most popular.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is still relatively new (only a few months old), so I haven't amassed quite the following you have. Unfortunately, it seems that my most popular posts are memes. Another commenter mentioned this is the case for her as well, & I agree it can be a bit discouraging.
Whew! Long week! It was an interesting exercise, looking back at comments over the past year. Hops, memes and giveaways certainly generate more comments than reviews, which is kind of discouraging in a way. But December is always fun for these end of year wrap-ups.
ReplyDeleteI just went to check, and I Think my post popular post was one I wrote about how The Princesses affected my life. LOL
ReplyDeleteand I think my most popular tune in tuesday has been Maroon five or Adele :)
A lot of these posts you mentioned were my favorite posts on your blog! On my blog, it's mostly the giveaways or events or memes that get a lot of comments/responses. I'm really not surprised about that, but I do hope that I can draw more readers into commenting on reviews or blog posts :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, as always, for hosting my favorite post of the week! I am a little surprised at all the love we both got for The Summer series. Not that I don't think it is awesome but because I did not see so much about that series like I have for some others. Maybe I just missed it. Whatever the reason, I am glad so many people are interested!
ReplyDeleteFor me giveaways were the top three blog posts ever! I know I do like free stuff too :) I loved your Perks of Being a Wallflower post AND you night with SafetySuit! I think I even made my best friend read the SafetySuit one because I was so excited for you :P
ReplyDeleteYeah, looking through which posts got more comments (few as they were) shows me I need to work hard at...something, lol. Or at everything, I guess? Most of the comments are on meme or blog hop posts or giveaways, basically. Great way to put things in perspective :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally see how the TBR pile for TGIF would be so popular. I love seeing what people have on their piles so I would have totally stalked that post here if I'd know about your posts at the time!
ReplyDeleteAnd those review posts are of some amazing books that definitely deserve great post traffic. The one thing I learned about this week's topic is that I clearly do not keep an eye on what posts are interesting and what aren't and which get shared the most. I must fix that! Would be super helpful to know.
It sounds like you had a fantastic year filled with insightful and fun posts. Can't wait to see your reviews in 2012. So many good books to be released next year.
ReplyDeleteMy first TGIF. ;)
ReplyDeleteNew Follower! Come see my Friday too! :D And have an awesome weekend!
